Pedal to the Metal

Time: 10 to 1pm
Location: University Mall, Chapel Hill, NC

Description: The ReCYCLEry will be provide free bike tune ups at the Pedal to the Metal Bike Fest in University Mall.  The event is being held in support of the Triangle Commuter Bike Initiative, which has a goal of connecting bike lanes in Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh.  The event kicks off with a children's bike parade and features radical bicycle sculptor Josh Hadar.

Cyclicious in The Pit

Description: The ReCYCLEry joins forces with Cyclicious to provide a day of tune ups and repairs in The Pit on the UNC Campus.  Start the Fall semester on a good note by getting your bike in top shape.

Back to School Bash

Location: Rogers Road, Chapel Hill NC
Description: The ReCYCLEry will be in attendance at the Rogers Road Community Back to School Bash.  We'll provide bike repairs, bicycles and helmets in the Rogers Road neighborhood in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity.  All residents of that neighborhood are welcome to attend and bring their bikes for repair.

Bike Tagging Day in Carrboro

Location: Fitch Lumber Parking Lot, 309 North Greensboro Street, Carrboro NC, 27510
Description: The ReCYCLEry will be hosting a repair day in the Fitch Lumber parking lot.  Bring your bikes in need of tune-ups or repairs, and learn some skills while spending the day in the great outdoors.

The ReCYCLEry will also be providing engraved tagging on the bottom bracket of bicycles for theft tracking and unveiling the new ReCYCLEry stickers.  Protect your bike against thieves today!

Repair Day at Cameron Village Library

Description: The ReCYCLEry will pack up their tools and travel to Raleigh.  The entire community is encouraged to visit, bring your bikes in need of tune-ups or repairs, and learn some skills while spending the day in the great outdoors.

DSI Comedy Show Benefit for the ReCYCLEry

Chatham Marketplace Repair Day

Description: The ReCYCLEry and the Abundance Foundation team up for a day of good food and bike repair at Chatham Marketplace in Pittsboro.   We'll be setting up outdoors in an environment that promotes and provides healthy quality food and supports local agriculture.  Open to the general public, bike repairs provided with gusto and at no cost.  Come learn and eat.

Repair Day in Carrboro

Commuter Conditioning Event

Date: April 28, 2010
Time: 5:15pm to 6:15pm
Location: Chapel Hill Town Hall, Chapel Hill, NC
Description: The ReCYCLEry will lead a brief conditioning ride for Chapel Hill Town Employees.  This events includes 30 minutes of warm up exercises followed by a 30 minute slow cycle on local side streets.  This event is aimed at teaching people to consider how their overall conditioning can be improved while they use a bicycle for alternative transportation.  The goal is that low impact, built upon daily, can lead into a full ride from home to work as a daily event.  All township employees are welcome to come and limber up with the ReCYCLEry and enjoy the slow ride.

Disabilities Services and Support Bike Clinic

: The ReCYCLEry joins with the Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department to work with children and adults with disabilities (as well as their parents and care givers) in a fun and safe day of bicycle repair and riding.  Due to expanded interest, this year the event will take place in Kenan Stadium.

Homeless Near and Far 2010

Repair Day in Carrboro

Description: The ReCYCLEry will be hosting a dual repair day with Spoke 'n Revolution.  The entire community is encouraged to visit, bring your bikes in need of tune-ups or repairs, and learn some skills while meeting the local school children who will be embarking on an ambitious 30 mile bike ride towards encouraging achievement.  Since this is an outside event, it won't be held in the event of rain.

Open Workshop (9/9)

Location: Back of 108 North Graham Street, Chapel Hill, NC
Description: The ReCYCLEry will be available every Thursday night (starting on August 26) from 7pm to 10pm for open workshop hours.  These hours are lightly paced and staffed by mechanics who will lead you in learning about your bike in an informal session.  Mechanics will not repair your bike for you, but will aid you in learning.  Everyone is welcome to bring their bike or work towards earning one of their own.

Description: Mark your calendars for the Grand Re-Opening of the ReCYCLEry.  This event will celebrate 10 years for the ReCYCLEry, as well as announce grant awards and introduce our new space.  Family fun in the morning, cruiser ride in the afternoon and late night fun too!  Full details to follow.
