How to donate to the ReCYCLEry NC

Donating to the ReCYCLEry is easy.

To donate a bicycle, come by one of our events or send us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to schedule a drop off at our location.  In special circumstance, we'll take the ride out to you and pick the bike up (send us an email and ask!).  We take donations of bikes in fair to excellent condition.  Unfortunately, we cannot accept donations of severely rusted bikes.

If you'd like to donate monetarily but you can't come by during working hours and donate in person (and we'd love to see you), all you have to do to make sure that we continue with our mission to teach bicycle repair and provide bicycles to the community is use one of the methods below.

All donations to the ReCYCLEry NC are tax deductible, so please request a tax receipt at the time of your donation.

The ReCYCLEry NC accepts donations from public and private organizations as well as individuals.  All donations to the ReCYCLEry are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Open Workshop (9/9)
Open Workshop

Time: 7 to 10pm
Location: Back of 108 North Graham Street, Chapel Hill, NC
Description: The ReCYCLEry will be available every Thursday night (starting on August 26) from 7pm to 10pm for open workshop hours.  These hours are lightly paced and staffed by mechanics who will lead you in learning about your bike in an informal session.  Mechanics will not repair your bike for you, but will aid you in learning.  Everyone is welcome to bring their bike or work towards earning one of their own.

Grand Re-opening (9/11)

Description: Mark your calendars for the Grand Re-Opening of the ReCYCLEry.  This event will celebrate 10 years for the ReCYCLEry, as well as announce grant awards and introduce our new space.  Family fun in the morning, cruiser ride in the afternoon and late night fun too!  Full details to follow.

APO Charity Night (9/27)

Description: The ReCYCLEry will be on hand for the Alpha Phi Omega Charity Night to discuss what we do and how we do it.  Come by and ask us questions about how we help the community, how you can help us help the community and learn about our history and motivation.  We'll have stickers and magnets on hand for giveaways.

Bike Sale/Swap (10/2)
Cycle 9 Swap/Sale Event

Description: Vendors and individuals will participate in a sale event of bike parts and complete bicycles.  Looking for something rare?  This might be the place to find it.  Looking for something functional?  This is definitely the spot for you.  Looking to hang around bike people and bike parts in a casual intellectual environment?  Come on down and visit us.  The ReCYCLEry will have full bikes available for purchase.
